Ieva Bakare
Immigration & Administrative Law
Immigration & Administrative Law Professional,
Former Migration Department Officer | Lithuania.
My name is Ieva Bakare and I am a legal professional with a particular focus on immigration and administrative law in Lithuania. As the mother of two children in a multicultural family living in Lithuania, I also understand that immigration is not only about legislation and procedures. Behind every application, appeal, and decision, there are individuals, families, careers, and future plans. Law has been a significant part of my life for many years, particularly in the areas of immigration and administrative law. This website serves as a space where I can share professional insights, practical observations, and topics that I find both interesting and relevant based on my experience and continuing interest in these areas.
Over the years, immigration law has been more than just my profession, it has been a significant part of my life. I hold a Master's degree in Law from Vytautas Magnus University in 2019 and have dedicated much of my professional career to understanding and applying immigration law in practice. I worked within the Migration Department of the Republic of Lithuania from 2022, where I gained experience both in residence permit matters and within the legal department. During that time, I was involved in the practical application of immigration legislation and represented the institution in administrative court proceedings. These experiences provided me with valuable insight into how immigration decisions are assessed, how legal procedures operate, and how administrative authorities apply immigration regulations in practice. While I am not an advocate, my professional background has allowed me to gain both legal and practical experience in immigration and administrative matters from within the public sector as well as through my continued work in the legal field. Today, I continue my professional career at the Highest Administrative Court of Lithuania. My experience within both the Migration Department and the administrative court system has provided me with valuable insight into the practical application of immigration law, administrative procedures, the knowledge of practise in the European Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union and human rights issues that arise in complex immigration matters.

“Immigration is not only about legislation and procedures. Behind every decision, there are individuals and families.”
